Gps or not?

I have a boat that I just purchased and the things that I wanted to add have gone over budget. I need a depthfinder/fishfinder. Never had a gps before and want you opinion on if I should get a gps unit or not? Thanks

What Mark said. There are a number of sites which you could find with lineups and by looking at the depth sounder but that's much harder and requires a lot more local knowledge of the area. Plus, you won't be able find that information on the net. Having a GPS will put you on the sites reliably. I suppose there are areas like the Outer Pinnacles where just about any place you anchored in the kelp would work but I'd want to be able to come back to the same spots over and over.
