Site Description: South Monastery Beach is arguably one of the best shore dives in the Monterey area. Just a stone's throw away from Point Lobos, the shallows of South Monastery offer a dense, rich and healthy kelp forest with much the same fish and invertebrate life. The best part of the dive is between 20'-60' fsw and is to the West side of the entry. Entries at this beach can be deceptively challenging. Entry/exit should be done from the far West end of the beach. As always, carefully assess conditions before deciding whether or not to dive.
Common Marine Life: Rockfish, corynactis, Urticinas, some hydrocoral
