Susan and I were scheduled for tech charter on Sunday. Reports from the Sat R3 trip ranged from 2-3ft vis at Flintstone, and divers not wanting to do a second dive due to bad visibility. For that reason we were not very excited about going diving. However, others on the boat were eager to go checked it out and we decided that it was so flat that at least we would have a nice dive out enjoying the ocean and the whales.

We motored out to find red water from Point Pi~nos and south. There was talking on going as far south as necessary until we found some clear water. As we push past Yankee Point we noticed a changed in water color so we decided to drive back and check how the water looked in some of these sites. We motored over Deep Flintstone, and Birthday Wall/Yankee Step/Secret Spot and conditions looked similar. A bit green, but at least it was not red. We discussed going farther south or dive one of these sites. Nick and John were for checking these sites do we settled for this area.

We jumped from the boat, and we had to abort the descend due to a leaky glove. It was fixed in about 5min and the dive went on the way. Water was green at the surface and at 130ft it was totally black, like a night dive, but vis was in the 10-15ft. We could not see the top of the pinnacle until we got to about 170ft, where we found a nice peak covered with corynactus. We descend following the sharp wall to about 250ft and leveled there. There was not current at all and we slowly moved north following the walls. There were tons of rocks fish including many juveniles cow cods, and some nice yellow eyes. We located a pack of small octopies and we were hoping to see the mother but not luck. We swam back south and scooters around the back-side of the wall. After 20min at the bottom we move to towards the top and found very interesting canyons all covered with invertebrates, and some very large lingcods were filling all the crevices. After a 30min dive we called and drifted during the deco.

We surface to find a sunny day with blue sky and the view of the mountains on the background. I could see Pico Blanco and Mt Carmel as we waited for the boat to
pick us. Wonderful to have clear sky with no fog :-)
